In today’s information-dense and interconnected work, media and information literacy (MIL) is an essential â€‹skillset to foster in order to ensure all people can interact and engage with information of all types. â€‹

Building media and information literacy skills in all people is key to ensuring meaningful access to information. This in turn helps empowers people, connects people, and helps them make informed choices that can better their lives. Acquiring MIL skills is a lifelong learning process, in which steps must be taken to ensure no one is left behind. Poster with speakers for the MIL for Government Officials and Policymakers Workshop

This WSIS 2021 Forum Workshop, organised by UNESCO, the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, is part of a greater work towards providing MIL policy guidance to national-level policymakers. This Workshop will contribute by helping to identify challenges, opportunities and limitations of national MIL policies and strategies.

IFLA will be represented by President-Elect Barbara Lison, who will guide a panel discussion of experts in exploring these challenges, opportunities and limitations within their own national context and areas of expertise.
