Occupy Library 2020

Occupy Library brings together the innovating ideas that are implemented in libraries in the Central, Eastern European, Black Sea, Caucasus, and Caspian regions and beyond. The conference provides a virtual space for sharing good practices and support best ways to make libraries more involved in their communities.

Key issues on the agenda include serving communities in times of crisis, partnerships for strong democracies; active citizenship in analogue and digital formats, emerging tech trends to empower communities and public spaces and community engagement

IFLA President Christine Mackenzie will host a session on 25 September with Erik Boekesteijn that explores current issues in libraries all over the world, then open the floor to discussions and questions from participants, while Member Engagement Officer will talk with the Deborah Jacobs, former Director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's Global Libraries programme, about their experiences of the initiative.

Meanwhile, IFLA will also hold a session sharing 10 ideas for how to engage with IFLA, and staff will be available at key moments in our virtual booth in order to answer questions.

We look forward to seeing participants there!
